Details

Normally, handpieces used for finishing ceramic materials (especially dental zirconia) are air turbines capable of operating above 100,000rpm. Unlike these, the Mestra Extreme handpiece doesn't use pressurised air to operate: Instead it is a powerful brushless electric micromotor, with an adjustable speed between 5,000 and 150,000rpm. Replacing air with electricity has a number of substantial advantages: The torque, especially at start-up and also at low revs, is much higher than that delivered by pressurised air • Allows a much smoother and more precise speed regulation • The reliability of electric turbines is much higher • The rotation is more regular and continuous • Overall, a better user experience both for use and quality of the work. The Extreme's high speed turbine has integrated LED lighting and a water irrigation system. A conventional brushless handpiece is also available, with rotational speed up to 50,000 rpm (not included in the set; see EM100355-02), which can work together with the electric turbine, both sharing the same control unit. Therefore, the technician can choose between a turbine and a micromotor, providing the set with great versatility. Unit dimensions: Height 285 mm. Width 115mm. Depth 220mm. Weight 3.7kg. Power 80W. Power supply 100-120/220-240V, 50/60 Hz. Turbine dimensions: Height 25mm. Width 25mm. Depth 140mm. Power 80W. Max Speed 150,000rpm. Torque 4.0 (N·cm).
